Cod cream with roasted peppers

Hmmm Portugal, it is impossible to think of Portugal without thinking COD. Cod is a fish that somehow reminds me a lot of a fish from my hometown,which is one of my favourite . Before arriving in Portugal the only dish made with cod I knew was bacalhau a gomes de Sá, which til this day is my favorite. But little did I know that there are so many different dishes, today I bring to you, an unusual recipe but a real delight “Cream of cod with roasted peppers”. This dish serves only 4 and it will only take 35 min .


  • 2 soaked cod pieces
  • 1.20 l of water
  • 1 green pepper
  • 1red pepper
  • 1 onion
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 1 dl of olive oi
  • 300g of potatoes
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1 branch of mint from the river

How to prepare

  1. Cook the cod in boiling water for 5 minutes;
  2. Let it cool in the broth;
  3. Roast the peppers and clean them ( remove the skin and seeds by dipping them in cold water);
  4. Sauté the chopped onion and garlic in olive oil;
  5. Add the potatoes in pieces and drizzle with cod stock;
  6. Cook over low heat for 10 minutes;
  7. Remove the bones and skin from the code, and add it to the previous preparation , also add half of the roasted peppers in strips ;
  8. Grind until you obtain a creamy texture;
  9. Season with salt and pepper and arrange the cream on serving plates;
  10. Add the cod in chips and strips of pepper ( the half that wasn´t used );
  11. Flavor with the mint from the river and then serve:
